Frequently Asked Questions

What should I bring on-board.
It is advisable to bring warm clothing and suitable footware.
Sunblock is adviseable. Plastic bags are great to take home your catch.

Wheres the boat located.
Silver Dawn is located in the Castlepark Marinal, Kinsale.

Take the bridge towards Garretstown and turn left at the end of the bridge. Castlepark marina is loated at the end of this road.

Saftey?
Sufficient lifejackets for ALL passengers and crew are stowed aboard. An automatic liftraft is stowed onboard. Flares, handheld radios, first-aid kits and other safety equipment is also stowed aboard. Silver Dawn carries a P5 passenger boat licence and as such had to pass stringent safety procedures to ensure your safety on board our vessel.

What type of fish can be caught?
Many species of fish can be caught, including; Blue Shark, Haddock, Gurnard, Megrim, Ling, Cod, Pollack, Conger Eel, Wrasse, Ray, Whiting, Mackerel, Dog fish, Bull Huss plus many more.

Do you do Shark fishing charters?
We specialise in Shark fishing. Blue Shark are the most common species of shark around our coast. Catches of fifteen or more in a day are quite possible.  And as well as blues, there is the chance of a Porbeagle and Mako shark. We have caught shark to well over 150 lbs. The shark fishing season normally runs from June to October, depending on weather.


Do you cater for Stag party's and Hen party's?
Yes we do. A great fun day is guranteed.

What experience do I need?

No experience required. The Skipper and other staff of Silver Dawn are always available to give advice and offer a helping hand.

Is Alcohol allowed on board?
Alcohol is allowed on board. However the boat will return to Kinsale immediately if persons aboard are deemed to be drunk

How many persons is the boat licensed for?

The P5 licence allows for 12 passengers plus 2 crew members.
